7am – To Do List
At work I am pretty much constantly busy throughout the day. Here is a short list of items that are on my to do list on any given day:
- Check to make sure nightly backup job ran without errors.
- Exchange backup cart. with the next days cartridge
- Make sure essential network services are on line (VPN, ERP, email, web)
- Check inbound email antivirus scanner to ensure database is up to date
All that before official start of business at 8am. After 8 it’s hit or miss, I’m either swamped with phone/IM calls or just sitting in my office reading email and catching up with work that seems to pile up on a daily basis. Of course there are the normal issues that people call me about, but those can be resolved fairly quickly. The first of the top two are their email client aborted with an error while fetching new messages (stupid email client issues.) The Second is they can’t do anything, websurf/email/ERP, nadda, zip, zero, zilch which tells us that their Internet connection is down, but they still call me and want me to fix it (kinda hard to do when I’m 500+ miles away from their location. )
