X Trials and Tribulations: Part 3
It seems that I was correct in my assumptions about Linux’s kernel motherboard drivers. I installed Fedora Core 1 onto my Athlon box. which has a Radeon 9000. Downloaded and installed ATI’s binary drivers configured it for large frame buffer mode. Started up X and VIOLA! it worked. Granted this is on 15″ panels at the office which can only handle 1024×768. I’ll have to wait until tonight or tomorrow to try it at the apartment with my 17″ panels there.
I may pull out this Radeon 9000 and put in into my P4 machine just to see what happens–you never know about these things. Although I’m 90% sure it’ll do the same thing as the Radeon 9600 and the Matrox G550 did. If it does I’ll just put it back into the Athlon rig and use the P4 machine to test Fedora Core Test 2.
